Updated 6 November 2026
In brief
Among the Cernobbio addresses in the MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026 are Materia (one Star), La Veranda at Villa d’Este and La Piazzetta Lake Como.
For a meal with a lake view, the official websites of La Veranda and Trattoria del Glicine mention a terrace on the lake; Harry’s Bar is on the lakeside square.
For pizza and relaxed evenings there is Federico Cernobbio, in the centre.
Some places change their hours or partly close in winter: check opening hours and seasonal closures on the website before you go.
From Como you can get there by ferry (Navigazione Laghi, about a quarter of an hour) or on the ASF C125 bus.
This guide follows a simple rule: we only include restaurants for which the official website or the MICHELIN Guide shows recent activity. For each one we only report what the source says. No ratings, no rankings. If you are also looking for ideas in town, read our guide Dove mangiare a Como (in Italian).
One point applies to all of them: opening hours published online can change from one week to the next, especially between November and March. Before you go out, check the website or call.
Restaurants in Cernobbio with a lake view
La Veranda, Villa d’Este
Where: Via Regina 40, inside the Villa d’Este hotel. The MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026 selects La Veranda for contemporary Italian cuisine. According to the inspector, in summer the terrace on the lake has a splendid view; in bad weather there is the elegant indoor dining room overlooking the lake. The guide also mentions an elegant dress code in the evening. The Villa d’Este website describes the Veranda with glass walls that open, a view of the lake and garden and a terrace when the weather allows, and lists it as open for the whole season. The hotel’s other venues have different periods: the Grill from April to October, Il Platano in summer, the Greenhouse (a winter garden on the lake, with evening cocktails and food all day) from November to January. The Sundeck is reserved for hotel guests. Check opening hours and seasonal closures on the hotel’s website, because the season dates are not given on the restaurants page.
Trattoria del Glicine
Where: Via Paolo Carcano 1. The official website speaks of “traditional cuisine in an elegant, classic setting with a lake view from a terrace covered in wisteria” and of a first-floor dining room with a lake view. The website describes a family business: Mario, chef and sommelier, opened his first restaurant in 2000, and the menu ranges from the Alps to the Mediterranean. According to the website, checked on 6 November 2026: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday dinner only; Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch and dinner; closed on Wednesday. The website does not mention seasonal closures: check before you book.
Harry’s Bar Cernobbio
Where: Piazza Risorgimento 2, on the Riva di Cernobbio (the lakefront). The website presents it as a restaurant and bar with “typical dishes of Italian cooking” made with fresh, seasonal produce, and live music every evening. The website states clearly that it is open all year. According to the website, checked on 6 November 2026, the closing day is Tuesday.
Trattorias and traditional cooking
Trattoria del Glicine and Harry’s Bar, described above, both present their food as traditional.
An honest note on lake cooking: none of the official websites we checked lists missoltino, lavarello or risotto with perch as a fixed item on the menu. If you are looking for those dishes in particular, ask when you book: they often depend on the catch and the season.
Pizza and informal food
Federico Cernobbio, Pizzeria e Cucina
Where: Via Cesare Battisti 7. The website presents it as a “Pizzeria e Cucina” (pizzeria and kitchen), with menu and wine list to download. According to the contact page, checked on 6 November 2026: Monday to Friday dinner only (19:00–22:30), Saturday and Sunday lunch too (12:00–14:30). An online booking is only valid once the restaurant has confirmed it by email.
Fine dining and contemporary cooking
Materia, one MICHELIN Star
Where: Via Trieste 1/B. Materia has one Star in the MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026. The chef is Davide Caranchini, who opened the restaurant in 2016 with Ambra, Marco and Luca. The guide puts it plainly: “There is no lake view, but it is for Davide Caranchini’s cooking that it is worth coming”. The cooking is creative and will appeal above all to those who like to step away from tradition. The website offers an à la carte menu and tasting menus. According to the website, checked on 6 November 2026: lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, closed on Sunday and Monday.
La Piazzetta Lake Como
Where: Via Regina 34. Selected in the MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026. The guide describes it as a modern bistro in the streets of Cernobbio, with a bar counter at the entrance for aperitifs and cocktails and, in summer, outdoor seating “bathed in the lake breeze”. The cooking is Mediterranean, reinterpreted with modern recipes. The restaurant’s website shows the “MICHELIN selected restaurant 2026” recognition but does not publish opening hours: check them on the Michelin page or by phone.
Lake dishes to know
Missoltino. This is agone, a fish from Lake Como, prepared with an old method. The Slow Food Foundation, which has listed it in its Ark of Taste, describes the preparation like this: the fish, scaled and gutted, are kept under salt for two or three days, then dried in the sun for about ten days and finally pressed. The name comes from the “missolte”, the wooden barrels they were once stored in. According to the same page, it is fished in the northernmost part of the lake. The tourism website of Regione Lombardia lists it as a typical lake dish, served with grilled polenta.
Risotto with perch. The in-Lombardia website notes that Lake Como and Lake Lecco are among the “homelands” of perch, and that on the large Lombard lakes perch fillet is “the king of risottos”.
Lavarello. The same website mentions it as a fish to try (a whitefish), served with Como’s white potatoes.
Getting to Cernobbio from Como
By ferry. Navigazione Laghi, which runs the public ferries (“battelli”), has published the Lake Como winter timetable, valid from 2 November 2026 to 14 March 2027. Cernobbio is one of the stops on the Como–Colico line, and in the timetable the crossing from Como takes about a quarter of an hour. The last departure from Cernobbio to Como in the timetable is at 20:05, so for dinner the ferry back usually does not work. The “SR” runs are a fast service with a supplement. On 25 December and 1 January the service is reduced, and some runs do not operate on 24, 26 and 31 December. Check the timetable for your day before you go.
By bus. ASF Autolinee has presented the Como San Giovanni–Argegno “via lago” line (C25, renamed C125 in June 2025) as a year-round service, with stops in Cernobbio, Moltrasio and Carate. ASF also lists a C128 line (formerly C28) to Rovenna, which runs in specific periods. Current timetables at asfautolinee.it.

Frequently asked questions
Are there Michelin-starred restaurants in Cernobbio?
Yes. Materia, in Via Trieste, has one MICHELIN Star in the MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026. In Cernobbio the same guide also selects, without a star, La Veranda at Villa d’Este and La Piazzetta Lake Como.
Where can I eat in Cernobbio with a lake view?
According to their websites, La Veranda at Villa d’Este and Trattoria del Glicine have dining rooms or terraces with a lake view. Harry’s Bar is on the lakeside square, Piazza Risorgimento.
Are Cernobbio restaurants open in winter?
It depends on the place. Harry’s Bar says it is open all year. Villa d’Este gives different periods for each restaurant: the Grill, for example, opens from April to October. For the others, the websites do not mention seasonal closures: always check first.
Where can I eat missoltino and risotto with perch?
On the official websites we checked, these dishes are not listed as fixed items. Ask the restaurant when you book: they often depend on the day’s catch.
Are there restaurants in Rovenna?
We found no official sources placing the restaurants in this guide in Rovenna. Rovenna is served by the ASF C128 line in the periods given by ASF: if you want to go up, check the timetable and the restaurant you have chosen first.
How do I get back to Como after dinner?
In winter the ferry is not suitable: the last departure from Cernobbio is at 20:05. That leaves the bus, but the last ASF runs also change with the season. Check the Navigazione Laghi and ASF timetables before you sit down to eat.
